Uzhgorod medical students refused to attend graduation and donated 100,000 hryvnias to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This year’s graduates of the Faculty of Medicine of the Uzhgorod National University handed over funds to the ZSU, which should have been spent on the graduation celebration.
Ukrainian writer and volunteer Andrii Lyubka announced this on July 4. According to him, the medical students donated UAH 100,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“… The class of 2023 decided to abandon the celebrations and instead support several important volunteer meetings, including ours – for one hundred thousand hryvnias. I sincerely thank you – first of all, not so much for the money as for the civic position, because it is human solidarity and cohesion that make our people strong,” Andrii Lyubka said, leaving the details that can be used to help volunteers.
In a comment to Suspilno, the students explained that every third of them has someone at the front – hence the idea to transfer funds to the Armed Forces.
“Someone who is close or related to him by blood, heart or spirit. We all understand in one way or another that the resource for fighting in the defenders, both material and moral, is very exhaustive. And donating and working in the rear with the collection of material supports the moral one as well. Therefore, the idea appeared somehow immediately from the understanding that we can think about some celebrations and their appropriateness only thanks to those who are there in the trenches and hospitals,” said graduate Anna Ruschak.
The public writes that students 10 thousand hryvnias. 30,000 hryvnias were sent to help the victims of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP. for the repair of the evacuation 103rd battalion of the 64th brigade, where their former classmate is serving, and the rest – Andrii Lyubtsa, for the purchase of a car for the Armed Forces
